I wrote my first poem when I was in the third grade and have not stopped writing since. In 2017 you will all have access to my first ever published body of work: Close Your Eyes, Now Breathe.
It is now December 29th, where does the book stand?
At the moment, it is complete and in the hands of a woman whom I admire for final edits. She received her M.A. and B.A. in English from Florida Atlantic University, is the co-founder of an important charter school in Palm Beach County, and is a past-President of the National Association for Poetry Therapy (NAPT).
On the back end
tryfkta is finessing all design aspects that need tweaking and will have the flyer for the book release event to take place Saturday, February 4th from 1-4pm ready for consumption and sharing.
Brandon Parker, a film graduate from Barry University, is shooting my promotional video this coming weekend. I can’t wait for y’all to see and share that as well.
Kaila Skeet-Browning took some gorgeous photos of me while I was up for a visit in Vermont.
Lauren Teng has made sure the chosen photo meets createspace’s requirements and helped me track down Wrythe Studio, where the book release will take place.
Samantha Shaw has her publicity brain turning with hashtags, marketing ideas, and anything else that’ll get y’all excited about supporting creative arts.
Reece T. Williams, a student at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, will snap flicks for us on February 4th so come looking right and toight (or not).
What you can do
Make sure you have $12.99 saved so you’re ready to grab a copy as soon as Close Your Eyes, Now Breathe becomes available.
What to expect
When you pick up this book, you will feel love, loss, excitement, nature, and all the little things that make life so. It is raw, unapologetic, and vulnerable. It will inspire you to chase your passion, whatever it may be, and to ignite it.
When you journey with this book, you will learn that it okay to talk about something like anxiety openly and honestly.
When you purchase Close Your Eyes, Now Breathe you will give power to poetry, creativity, and support young people like myself and those identified above in our respective craft. You even get a bonus — the first few chapters of my novel which I’ll focus on in an eight week writing class come January.
I look forward to seeing you all at the book release on Saturday, February 4th from 1-4pm. Click here to RSVP!
